Virovesca

Our town Briviesca was a very important city in ancients times. It was calles Virovesca, in a lot of museums such us the national museum of arqueology Virovesca appears in maps of the roman conquest.

Why it was so  important?
Virovesca was so important because it was the point where the carriageways of the north, Astorga and Italia-Hispnia  where at the same time, so it was where the Roman army prepared the attak to the north.

Where can we see all the remains?
Virovesca  was dedicated to zeus and in his best times the city had 3 walls and a big army located in the mountains and the civil part was also located in the mountains but also in the center of the town , it was also a prision, a palace and a temple. However the visigothics destroyed the walls, the palace, the temple, the army and the center civil part. Later on the population of the  montains moved to the  center and in a fire all the buildings in mountains where destroyed. and the urban center litle by little was also reconstrucand in the year 1970 AC the prision was destroyed. So we can see remains in the city hall  where is a part of the wallsand in the mountains where you ca find coins, jars...

And is something more near Briviesca?
Ofcourse we can walk in the carriageways of Italia- Hispania start here in Briviesca and end in Cerezo de rio tiron.
